An Educator's Guide to School and Classroom Security

Today's administrators, educators and students face realities generally unknown to their predecessors. Stalkings, assaults, kidnappings and lethal intent in and near our rural, suburban and urban schools occur much more frequently than reported by the media. Teacher, administrator and student training rarely includes detailed practical planning and preparation for these risks.

This seminar focuses on staff and student security needs specific to educational institutions and communities.

Topics include:

  • Ten actions to improve school security
  • Work-related risks and interventions
  • Hazard recognition and avoidance
  • Establishing a place of safety
  • School and classroom preparation
  • Inter-agency communications
  • Fundamentals of self defense
  • Personal do's and don'ts
