A College Student's Guide to Personal Safety

At Catamount Ranch, we realize that today’s students need to prepare for much more than the academic challenges of attending college. Campus life that once included a security officer armed with a flashlight has grown into a micro-urban environment with all its benefits as well as the hazards that now require a full police force. Are you at 17, 18 or even 22 years of age really experienced and prepared to recognize and deal with those people prey upon college students and whose intent is to do you harm?

Parents and students are encouraged to attend this one day seminar at Catamount Ranch that focuses on the personal security needs of young adults who are attending college away from home.

Topics include:

  • Hazard recognition and avoidance
  • Dorm do's and don'ts
  • Five ways to improve personal security
  • Common college experiences
  • Apartment risks and rewards
  • Fundamentals of self defense
